More Brainstorming

Building off our "World Within a World" concept from last time, we came up with some more story ideas:

-Using the "shared sky" scenario, each world has a tall mountain on its surface. The main character finds out that, based on each world's rotation axis, the two mountains are going to collide with one another causing massive destruction to each world. He/she desperately tries to convince and warn others, but no one will listen. Disaster ensues.

-Working more off of the "nature vs. technology" theme, inhabitants move from one world to the other and forget about the former. They come back years later to find it completely overgrown.

-The population is exhausting their resources. They go out in search of materials, and find the other world. People move to the other world and find that there are traces of human existence. Through further investigation, they find out that they were the ones who lived there before and moved to their current world because they had exhausted the resources in this place. Their existence is a rotation between the two planets -> they exhaust the resources on one, then move to the other. They lie to their children and conceal the existence of the other world in hopes that, one day, they will correct their mistakes and treat this world like it is the only option they have.

-The following scenarios all use the base concept that there are two people separated from each other on the different worlds:

a) One sends messages to the other instructing them to build a device. The device turns out to be a makeshift trampoline. They are instructed to take the trampoline to the top of the highest mountain at a certain time. The last instruction is simply "jump." The person does so and ends up on the other world, united with the person sending instructions.

b) One sends messages to the other instructing them to build a "catching" device of some sort (like a cushion, for example). At the same time, he/she builds a shooting device to launch him/her to the other world.

c) The two people are lovers, unable to leave their respective worlds for some reason to be determined. Do to the planets' rotation, when their homes pass by one another they have brief moments to connect.

d) Again, the two are lovers. There is a tunnel that leads between the worlds. They discover it at the same time when they are little and are introduced. They fall in love. They meet there constantly throughout their lives, for hours at a time when the tunnels connect. The worlds grow more hostile towards each other, and it becomes dangerous for them to meet. They are forced to destroy the tunnel to sever the connections between the worlds, to stop the war for the greater good. Could be told through a series of vignettes. Each world could have a drastically different look and aesthetic. Additionally, we could also make it so that the tunnel was used as a meeting spot by past lovers, too.

Mood/Direction

As we start developing these ideas for stories, we also need to consider the direction we want to go in. Each of these stories as a certain mood it conveys to the audience. What mood do we want to convey? What kind of audience do we want to reach? The answers to these questions will affect the story we choose, and vice versa.

It seems like we are heading in one of two directions: comedy, or drama. Oddly enough, these are the two largest categories in narrative, and also the most distinctly different. Each has their own unique challenges and payoffs. As we narrow in on a finalized story, we will need to determine which route we want to take. By doing so, we can help ourselves identify some of our challenges right away.

So what will it be? Comedy, or drama? Think that one over.

Logo Ideas

Randy also brought some concepts for our team logo. Check them out in the pictures from the meeting below.

So wait, the logo designs... are they like a magic eye thing? Cause I can usually see those. Or Where's Waldo?

PS. - There aren't any logos.
