Notes from 12/13/2009
Overview
-Team name
-Team organization
-Discussion/archiving options
-Rough outline of project milestones
-What to do over the winter break
-Individual task "I Wants"
Team Name
A couple of names were proposed.
-Robojam Productions
-Junkyard Beats, Inc.
It was decided that Robojam Productions will be the official name. Ideas for team logo(s) to follow eventually.
Team Organization
From here on out we should meet in rooms that have white boards in order to take notes and express things visually during the meetings. Also, meetings will be once a week (day to be determined, depending on everyone's schedules).
To help keep the team organized and motivated, we will be following the "protocols." The first meeting after the break will be with Rachel Rutherford who will go into depth on what exactly the protocols are and how they are used. Until then, the one protocol that the team can focus on is "I wants". Each individual should examine what they want from this project, and what can be done to achieve their wants. In addition, the beginning of each meeting will start with a list of "I wants" written on the board - what each individual wants from that meeting in particular. Again, Rachel will explain this in more detail if there's any confusion.
Discussion/Archiving Options
We need some sort of online space to post our work and communicate with each other outside of meeting times. Of the options discussed, the following seemed most helpful/pertinent:
-web forum
-website
As a result, the forum you are now looking at was established. In addition, when the time comes to organize this content in a professional, presentable manner, we will look into establishing a website. It is possible that DigiPen might provide us with web space. Otherwise, there are other options such as godaddy.com and other hosting sights. We can cross this bridge when we come to it. It was decided that, for now, a forum is all we really need.
Rough Outline of Project Milestones
This may be adjusted depending on our progress or changes in scope. As for now, though, here is the projected timeline of events/milestones:
The winter break (2010) has been left out of the work schedule. Hopefully we can use this time to take a rest and unwind. If needed, we will use this time to continue to work.
What To Do Over the Winter Break
RELAX. The winter break should be used as a time for us to calm down and unwind from a rather stressful semester before we begin working on this huge project. If desired, you may work on developing ideas for the project, but there is no pressure to. Essentially, everyone is "checked out" until the beginning of the Spring Semester (2010).
However, the break would be a good time to evaluate individual "I Wants" and determine what you want out of this project.
Individual Task "I Wants"
At this meeting we discussed, as of now, what tasks we do and do not want to work on for this project. These are by no means set in stone. As they stand now:
Nyssa wants to do...
-animation
-concept art
-prop modeling
-reference video
and doesn't want to do...
-environment modeling
Chase wants to do...
-environment modeling
-prop modeling
-concept art
-texturing
and doesn't want to do...
-animation
David wants to do...
-concept art
-modeling
-texturing
-lighting
and doesn't want to do...
-rigging
-skinning
Randy wants to do...
-layouts and matte paintings
-animation
-rigging
-storyboards
Kieran wants to do...
-modeling (particularly characters)
-lighting
-storyboarding/animatics
-concept art
-reference video
-skinning
and doesn't want to do...
-animation
That is all for now!
