Animation Meeting

So with the animatic finished, we needed to started assessing our animation needs and restructuring the workload for the animators themselves. The following is what came out of the meeting we had in class:

Animated Characters

Of these characters listed above, Mahaka definitely dominates the amount of animation time and energy needed for this project. We also assessed the breakdown of animation by scene, and which characters need the most animation in each scene:

• Scene 1 (00:23-00:32) - (1) Mahaka, (2) Mahaka's Dad
  
• Scene 2 (00:39-01:30) - (1) Ruru, (2) Mahaka, (3) Ariki
  
• Scene 3 (01:30-01:55) - (1) Mahaka
  
• Scene 4 (01:55-02:41) - (1) Mahaka, (2) Ariki, (3) Ruru, (4) Penguins
  
• Scene 5 (02:41-04:00) - (1) Mahaka, (2) Ariki, (3) Ruru, (4) Mahaka's Dad

*NOTE* The above scene breakdown does NOT include the opening establishing shots with the village extras.

We will be starting with collecting vid ref and blocking for scenes 2 and 3. The assignments are as follows:

Nyssa - Mahaka, Scene 3
Randy - Mahaka, Scene 2
David - Ruru, Scene 2
Emmanuel - Ariki, Scene 2

For each of the animators, review your scene and, in particular, your character in each scene. Analyze your character's action in the scene based on who they are and what they want. Thumbnail out the actions of your character to prepare for shooting vid ref on Sunday.

Based on how these scenes go, we will be determining animation assignments for the remaining scenes. Please do not hesitate to contact either me or Nyssa if there are any questions about anything you see above.
